What we are, what we are not, and what that means for you.
We are not the government
Maple Lineage is a private company. We are not a government agency and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for the Government of Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or the passport program.
The application forms and guides for a citizenship certificate and for a passport are available free of charge at canada.ca. You can apply on your own, and you never need to hire anyone to do so. Using a paid service does not give an application priority or special treatment.
We are not a law firm
We research family lines and retrieve records. We do not give legal or immigration advice, and we do not represent anyone before IRCC.
Under section 21.1 of the Citizenship Act, only lawyers and paralegals in good standing with a Canadian law society, Quebec notaries, and consultants licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants may charge for advice or representation on a citizenship application. Where our clients need that help, it is provided by a licensed representative under a separate agreement.
You can confirm that any representative is authorized on the Government of Canada's website.
General information only
The content of this website, including the blog and the eligibility check, is general information. It is not legal advice and should not be relied on as such. Citizenship law is detailed, it changes, and its application depends on the facts of each family line. The content was last checked against official sources in October 2026.
No guaranteed outcome
We do not guarantee that you are a citizen, that an application will be approved, or how long a decision will take. Those matters depend on your family's records and on IRCC. The eligibility check gives a preliminary indication only.
Genuine records only
We work with authentic documents obtained from the offices that hold them. We do not create, alter or supply false documents, and we will end an engagement with anyone who asks us to. Misrepresentation on a citizenship application is an offence and can lead to refusal or loss of citizenship.
Illustrations and examples
The passport graphics and photographs on this site are illustrations. They do not reproduce any real person's document, and images marked as illustrative do not show our clients. Named examples in our explanations are invented to show how the rules work and do not describe real people. Where client stories appear, they are published with permission and describe individual experiences, not typical or promised results.
Links
Links to government and other websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for their content.
Report fraud
If someone promises you citizenship for a fee, guarantees a result, or suggests using false documents, walk away. The Government of Canada explains how to protect yourself from fraud.
