Accessibility
This site should work for everyone. Here is what we have done, and how to tell us where it falls short.
Our aim
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and the accessibility laws that apply to us in Canada.
What we have done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a link to skip to the main content.
- Text and controls meet contrast requirements against their backgrounds.
- Pages use headings, landmarks and labels that screen readers can follow.
- Form fields have visible labels, and errors are described in text next to the field.
- Animation is reduced or switched off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content, and the layout adapts to small screens.
- Decorative graphics, including the passport illustration, are hidden from assistive technology.
Known limitations
- Documents and websites we link to, including government pages and scanned archive records, are outside our control and may not be fully accessible.
